With the increased interest in the use of MOFs in real-world applications, considerable efforts have been devoted recently to the elaboration of highly robust and porous structures. This chapter discusses the “robustness” of MOFs by giving a comprehensive overview of the three main categories of stabilities, namely, chemical, thermal, and mechanical, which (at least one) should be ascribed to MOFs in relation to a targeted application. Particular attention has been paid to address strategies allowing the synthesis of robust MOFs.
