摘要与影响
Sputtering has emerged as one of the most versatile and widely adopted thin-film deposition techniques, owing to its ability to produce high-quality films with precise control over thickness, stoichiometry, and microstructure. Recent advancements in sputtering setups, including the incorporation of ultrahigh-vacuum (UHV) environments, refined target designs, advanced power delivery systems, and in situ monitoring tools, have significantly enhanced the capabilities of this technique. These innovations enable unprecedented control over film uniformity, adhesion, crystallinity, and stress, thereby enhancing the functional properties of deposited layers across electrical, optical, and mechanical domains. Such improvements directly impact the performance of a wide range of devices, including microelectromechanical systems, optoelectronic devices, protective coatings, and flexible electronics. Despite these advancements, challenges remain in terms of system cost, operational complexity, hybrid integration with complementary deposition techniques, and the urgent need for sustainable practices, including energy efficiency and target recycling. Addressing these challenges through innovations in system design, automation, and green engineering will ensure sputtering continues to evolve as a critical enabler of next-generation technologies.
