Organic–Inorganic Mesoporous Nanocarriers Integrated with Biogenic Ligands

Inside and out: Organic–inorganic mesoporous nanospheres (see image) are prepared by a method in which ethylene glycol plays a key role in improving the structural order and controlling the particle size and morphology. The external surface of the mesoporous nanocarriers is modified with receptor-specific ligands before surfactant removal, while the internal surface is preserved for the encapsulation of biogenic molecules.
