摘要与影响
The growing demand for advanced radiation detection technologies in healthcare, homeland security, nuclear safety, industrial monitoring/testing, and scientific research calls for materials that combine high performance, robustness, and scalability. Zero-dimensional (0D) organic metal halide hybrids (OMHHs) have recently emerged as a transformative class of functional materials suitable for both scintillation-based and direct X-ray detection. Their ionically bonded structures and rich organic–inorganic chemistry enable exceptional tunability of physical and chemical properties, as well as remarkable compatibility with diverse processing methods. In this Perspective, we highlight key advances in the structural design and functional integration of 0D OMHHs, summarize major milestones in their X-ray scintillation and direct detection performance, and discuss emerging strategies in materials engineering and device integration. We further outline the challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of 0D OMHHs as a versatile platform for next-generation radiation-scintillation and direct-detection technologies.
