With the rapid construction and development of cities, aging communities have emerged with problems such as long-standing buildings, poor living environments, uneven distribution of public service facilities, aging infrastructure, and inconvenient transportation. There is an urgent need to conduct assessments based on livable community criteria. This paper, based on the connotation of urban renewal in the new era and targeting the construction of livable communities, analyzes the progress of livable community assessments. Guided by the assessment requirements of urban renewal in Chongqing, China, it employs a combination of literature theory and field investigation, as well as the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), to build an assessment system and a checklist-based renewal strategy for livable communities in Chongqing. Finally, taking the Zhongshutuo Community in Chongqing as an example, the paper conducts a statistical analysis of residents' scoring on the renewal evaluation indicators of the aging community, based on historical data sorting and multiple visits to the current situation. Through the analysis results, it selects a renewal menu and summarizes the renewal strategies suitable for the community, aiming to provide references for the assessment of livable community renewal and the selection of checklist-based strategies.
