Positive psychology-based group work for youth living in Turkey: a randomized controlled trial

This research was conducted as a pretest-posttest quasi experimental study to evaluate the effect of positive psychology-based group work on 20 youth living in different provinces of Turkey. The study group of the research, which was conducted between October 2023 and November 2023, consisted of 20 youth aged 18–21. Participants in the study were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. In addition to the Personal Information Form, the Positive Mental Health Scale and the Depression Stress and Anxiety Scale (DASS21) were administered to the study group as pretest and posttest. The group work consisted of 6 sessions, and in these sessions, topics such as understanding and expressing emotions, interpersonal communication skills, discovering strengths and social support were studied. The collected data were analyzed in the SPSS 22.0 package program. At the end of the group work, it was observed that there was a significant difference in the total scores of the Positive Mental Health Scale and Depression Stress and Anxiety Scale (DASS21) of the youth in the experimental group.
