Community needs assessment for social service delivery in Chengdu, China

This study explores the community needs assessment of social service delivery in Chengdu, China. Using a qualitative approach to explore needs assessments, the authors conducted in-depth interviews and focus-group discussions with community members and social workers. The authors identified various needs for residences, and these include issues related to welfare for senior citizens, service delivery, the social service speciality, health and medical services, children, environmental degradation, and concerns relating to the problems faced by ethnic minorities. The findings provide insights to the Chinese government to strengthen community social work practice development and enhance community service delivery in Chengdu, China.
