摘要与影响
This commentary introduces the methodological diversity represented in this special issue on the cultural psychology of sexuality. Situated at the intersection of psychology, cultural studies, and sexuality studies, the field draws on multiple methodological traditions that reflect distinct epistemological and ontological assumptions. Rather than viewing this diversity as a challenge to be resolved, the commentary argues that methodological pluralism is an inevitable and valuable feature of interdisciplinary scholarship. To help readers navigate this plurality, it provides an accessible overview of several methodological approaches represented in the special issue, including qualitative research, ethnography, and literature review or evidence synthesis. By highlighting their respective strengths and underlying assumptions, the commentary encourages epistemic humility and methodological openness. It concludes that diverse ways of knowing are essential for understanding the complex interplay of culture and sexuality and for advancing a more inclusive and contextually grounded cultural psychology of sexuality.
