摘要与影响
Research in the field of internal combustion engines is currently focussed on two primary objectives: improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. A significant portion of this research is directed towards addressing frictional losses, which account for 40% of the total energy dissipation in a typical engine and holds the potential to substantially enhance fuel economy. Within the scope of this study, we have identified the application of micro-geometric patterns on piston rings as a promising technology for mitigating friction between the piston rings and cylinder liners. Additionally, our findings reveal that the utilization of textured rings in engines led to a remarkable reduction in lubricant oil consumption, approximately 12.35%. The key factors contributing to this reduction include the uniform distribution of surface textures and the viscosity-driven flow of oil within the contact surfaces, particularly under the conditions of boundary lubrication. These factors collectively exert a notable influence on engine performance.
