摘要与影响
The publication on “The Primacy of Ethics in Aesthetic Medicine: A Review1” is very interesting, and we hereby would like to comment and add on it. This review of the research focuses on the growth of aesthetic medicine, the moral dilemmas that practitioners face, and how marketing and social media affect patients’ attitudes. The review draws attention to issues including the commercialization of beauty, conflicts of interest, the paucity of research to support treatments, and the rise in the number of nonphysicians practicing aesthetic medicine. The function of social media influencers in medical marketing is also examined, bringing to light moral conundrums pertaining to openness, patient autonomy, and professional ethics. The review of the research on the primacy of ethics in aesthetic medicine should consider how practitioners of aesthetic medicine might successfully navigate these moral quandaries while still meeting their patients’ needs and preferences. Can best practices or guidelines be established to overcome issues such as influence from social beauty standards or conflicts of interest? Moreover, in an increasingly cutthroat and profit-driven sector, how can practitioners guarantee openness and uphold their professional integrity? Regarding these questions, we intended to further discuss alternative solutions to the ethical issues raised in the review. We believe that developing best practices or guidelines in aesthetic medicine can assist practitioners to overcome morel quandaries and maintain their professional integrity. Research in this field may go in other ways in the future, including as examining how cultural and societal standards affect patients’ opinions on aesthetic procedures and beauty. Furthermore, researching how cosmetic procedures affect patients’ mental and emotional health over the long run may shed light on the moral ramifications of these procedures. Finally, a worthwhile area for additional research and publication may be to examine how regulation and supervision contribute to the maintenance of ethical norms in the field of aesthetic medicine.
