Low-Complexity Signal-Signal Beating Interference Mitigation for CADD Receivers with Improved Spectral Efficiency

In this paper, we propose a novel carrier-assisted differential detection (CADD) receiver with quasi-interleaved subcarrier loading scheme and low-complexity successive signal-signal beating interference (SSBI) cancellation algorithm. Compared to the CADD with interleaved subcarrier loading scheme, the spectral efficiency can be improved by twice but only with an optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) penalty of less than 5dB and the number of additional required gap subcarriers of less than 6 to achieve the 7% FEC limit.
