A Section Location Method for High Resistance Fault in Resonant Grounding System

It is difficult to locate the high resistance fault section in resonant grounding system, and the traditional protection is not sensitive or even ineffective, which brings a serious threat to the safety of distribution network. In order to solve the above problems, a section location method based on zero-sequence instantaneous power for high resistance fault in resonant grounding system is proposed. Firstly, the equivalent model of high resistance faults in distribution network is established. Based on this, the analytical expressions of zero-sequence voltage and zero-sequence current of faults are solved, and the relationship of zero-sequence instantaneous power waveform between faulty section and healthy section is deduced. Secondly, the similarity is visually measured by Spearman correlation coefficient to realize high-resistance fault section location. Finally, a simulation model is built in PSCAD to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method and its ability to resist transition resistances and noise. Simulation results show that the proposed method has a good application prospect.
