Reliability Simulation Evaluation for System-of-Systems with Communication Networks

To enhance system-of-systems (SoS) resilience, this paper proposes a novel simulation architecture for SoS with embedded communication networks. Using a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) framework, SoS structures are modeled through network-entity coupling, enabling detailed depictions of entities, networks, and their interactions. A network simulation methodology is developed to assess communication-centric SoS network reliability. By integrating SoS structural analysis, network reliability parameters, and entity design considerations, a Multi-Agent-based model for evaluating SoS resilience is introduced. Key resilience-enhancing factors are identified through sensitivity analysis. The methodology is validated through a case study on a land maneuver mission SoS, demonstrating practical applications and providing insights for SoS design optimization.
