Noise always deteriorates the quality of Photoplethysmogram (PPG) signal. Time variant nature of PPG signal causes complications in removal of noise from PPG signal. A good quality of PPG signal is required for analysis and diagnosis of various diseases. A survey of different types of noises affecting the PPG signal and various methods based on different types of filtering, wavelet transform, Empirical Mode Decomposition, independent component analysis, cluster analysis used for PPG denoising are presented in this paper. On the basis of various parameters, the performance of different denoising methods has compared and the table of merits and demerits of various techniques also included.
