A 60 GHz Low-Noise Amplifier with Pseudo Feed-Forward Active Neutralization Suitable for Multi-Stage Topologies

This article presents a cascode low-noise amplifier (LNA) design featuring active neutralization technique suitable for performance improvements in multi-stage topologies. A feed-forward path consists of series of active devices that imparts small or tiny gain is proposed to compensate losses in cascode amplifier. Active devices that envelop on commonsource and common-gate configurations are utilized properly for performance improvements. At the center frequency of 60 GHz, the proposed designs exhibit the gain increments of 9.3 dB and 7.1 dB with 1 mW less power when compared to conventional multi-stage LNA. The proposed work is based on 65-nm CMOS technology that gives minimum noise figure of 4.791 dB while the input and output reflection coefficients are almost less than -20 dB.
