With large offshore wind farms connecting to the grid by VSC-HVDC, many urgent problems should be solved, such as Available Transfer Capability (ATC) calculation, which has important academic and practical significances to transmission system operation. A new ATC computation model with offshore wind farms connecting to the grid via VSC-HVDC is proposed in this paper. In this model the characteristics of offshore wind farms and VSC-HVDC control is considered. CPF algorithm is presented to solve this model, then the ATC value of power system can be gained. The algorithm based on MATLAB6.5 is developed. IEEE 14-bus test system is used to verify the presented approach.
