Spoof Surface Plasmon Polariton based Half Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide Microwave Bandpass Filter for C and H band Services

A miniaturized microwave wideband half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) bandpass filter using spoof surface plasmons polaritons (SSPP) is presented in this work. The advised bandpass filter has a passband center frequency of 8.2 GHz and a normalized bandwidth of 62. 2% with an outer stopband rejection from 11.29 to 15.91 GHz at 30 dB. The transmission loss is 0.23 dB, and the reflection loss is greater than 12.5 dB at the center frequency. The signal delay of the advised bandpass filter is about 0.4 ns at operating frequency. The overall footprint of the filter is very small about$1.38 \lambda ~\mathrm{g} \times 0.36 \lambda ~\mathrm{g}$. Since simple structure, small size, and low insertion losses, the advised bandpass filters can be used in$C$and$H$band services. The advised filter is simulated with Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate which is having 0.508 mm thickness, 2.2 relative permittivity, and$9 \times 10^{-4}$dielectric loss tangent using Ansys HFSS.
