A non‐linear growth model is presented that provides a solution to Harrod's knife‐edge problem within the Keynesian multiplier–accelerator framework. The model introduces product innovation into a conventional investment function. Statistical analysis demonstrates that such an investment function matches the data better than the conventional one. Dynamic analysis shows that irregular growth cycles could occur with excess capacity.
