Summary statement This study identifies a novel OsGSK2‐OsHSF7 phosphorylation module that controls rice thermotolerance. OsGSK2 negatively regulates rice thermotolerance by modulating heat‐responsive genes and directly phosphorylating the interacting heat shock factor OsHSF7. Genetic characterization of the Gi/hsf7 double mutant further validates this epistatic genetic interaction.
