Summary What is this summary about? This summary describes a clinical trial with human volunteers looking at how well the study treatment (marstacimab) affected joint health in people living with hemophilia who have inhibitors. Hemophilia is a condition that causes people to bleed more easily because they do not have enough clotting factors, so their blood is unable to clot properly. Clotting is when liquid blood turns gel-like to stop bleeding. Some treatments for hemophilia work by replacing these clotting factors. Some people living with hemophilia develop inhibitors, which stop these treatments working properly. This is called hemophilia with inhibitors. Marstacimab is a newer way to treat people living with hemophilia. Marstacimab is a medicine that attaches to a molecule in the blood called Tissue Factor Pathway Inhibitor, or TFPI for short. TFPI slows down blood clotting. However, when marstacimab attaches to TFPI, it stops working and can no longer slow down blood clotting. Therefore, blood clotting increases. For people living with hemophilia, this helps blood to form a clot when needed. What were the results of the study? This study showed that people living with hemophilia with inhibitors who were treated with marstacimab once a week had less bleeding in joints and target joints, compared to their previous therapy.
