摘要与影响
One of the efficient means of energy storage devices is batteries. The Li-ion battery is commonly used commercially in different sectors. Although it possesses high energy density, certain demerits are also associated with it such as Li itself being highly reactive and flammable, highly hazardous to our environment and an unequal distribution of Li geographically. Supercapacitors are an alternative way to store electrochemical energy which fills the gap between batteries and conventional capacitors. The supercapacitor offers high power density, high cyclability, and fast storing capability. The limitations of the supercapacitor are low energy density and high cost of electrode material. Recent research showed that high entropy materials (HEMs) have immense potential as electrode material for supercapacitor. The HEM electrode showed high capacitance value, high cyclability, and rate capability due to the synergy effect of the transition metal elements in it. The electrochemical performance of the HEM can be tuned depending on the structure, composition, morphology, and crystallite size. In this chapter, we will discuss and describe the recent reports on supercapacitive properties of HEMs and discuss the future prospects of these emerging materials for supercapacitive application.
