摘要与影响
Genome editing has become a pivotal technology in biological research, offering unprecedented precision in modifying genetic sequences and enabling novel applications across multiple disciplines. Early innovations, such as Zinc Finger Nucleases (ZFNs) and Transcription Activator-Like Effector Nucleases (TALENs), set the foundation for precise gene editing by facilitating targeted modifications at specific DNA sequences. These tools enabled significant advancements in understanding gene function and provided therapeutic insights, particularly in correcting genetic abnormalities. The emergence of CRISPR-Cas9 has further revolutionized the field, offering a more adaptable, efficient, and user-friendly approach to genome editing. This chapter presents a comprehensive analysis of ZFNs, TALENs, and CRISPR-Cas9, detailing their mechanisms and unique contributions to genome editing. It highlights their practical applications, particularly in insect pest management, where these technologies have been utilized to disrupt genes essential for pest survival and reproduction, offering innovative strategies for controlling pest populations. Additionally, the chapter examines the role of genome editing in clinical biology, where it holds substantial promise for treating genetic disorders and advancing gene therapies.
