摘要与影响
This chapter discusses three highly regarded and extensively researched abrasive-based micro-nano finishing processes for precision finishing applications. These processes are Abrasive Flow Machining (AFM), Magnetic Abrasive Finishing (MAF), and Magnetorheological Finishing (MRF). Industries requiring high-precision finishes, such as medical, optical, electrical, and engine component sectors, have found MAF particularly beneficial. Additionally, critical applications like tools, turbine parts, superalloys, and ceramics have achieved high-quality surfaces using these techniques. The chapter provides an overview of AFM, MAF, and MRF, covering various aspects. It delves into their working principles, classification, modeling and simulation techniques, and their combined use with other techniques for enhanced efficiency, known as hybrid MAF processes. The article delves into the magnetic abrasives and media utilized in these processes. This chapter also provides a glimpse of recent applications of these processes. This chapter stands as a valuable reference for individuals keen on comprehending and implementing these advanced micro-nano finishing processes using abrasives across various academic, research, and industrial domains.
