摘要与影响
Calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) is a naturally occurring mineral found in stone as well as in the bones and teeth of animals, including humans. Primarily composed of calcium and phosphate, CaHA represents the active component of Radiesse, a soft-tissue filler that will be thoroughly discussed in this book. Initially, CaHA had several other regenerative therapeutic indications, including dental, orthopedic, ear, nose, and throat procedures. It successfully underwent rigorous safety and efficacy evaluations by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) before being approved for aesthetic applications [ 1 ]. This new use of CaHA in regenerative aesthetics—a distinct branch of regenerative medicine—aims to restore tissue architecture through biomechanical and biostimulatory effects, rejuvenating the aesthetic appearance of tissues primarily affected by aging processes.
