The Use of AI in the Palestinian Genocide

This chapter examines the use of artificial intelligence (AI) within the Gaza genocide from a Marxist perspective that emphasizes class power and imperialism. While mainstream narratives present AI as an autonomous or morally ambiguous technological force, this chapter argues that AI operates as “dead labor” in the destructive production process of U.S.-led imperialism, embedded within the class relations that structure the mode of production. AI systems do not act independently; they rely on living labor, military coordination, and ideological apparatuses to expand the capacity of imperialist states to subjugate, discipline, and eliminate subordinated populations in the Global South and regulate the global rate of profit. To support this argument, this chapter draws on the work of Karl Marx, Rosa Luxemburg, and Louis Althusser, advancing three interconnected claims. First, AI intensifies long-term mechanisms of primitive accumulation and super-exploitation across geostrategic regions by enhancing surveillance and extractive governance, extending Marx’s account of the general law of capital accumulation and Vladimir Lenin’s complementary theory of imperialism. Second, imperialist warfare is directly profitable in itself, as war and dispossession generate self-contained, rapid circuits of surplus value realization. Third, AI has an ideological function, shaping public perception, suppressing international solidarity, and reproducing imperialist-class hegemony across both Gaza and metropolitan centers.
