摘要与影响
This bibliometric analysis examines the use of Three-Dimensional (3D) printing in contact lens fabrication, focusing on additive manufacturing research in this field.3D printing allows customizable lens production by enabling various designs that enhance performance and wearer comfort. This technology employs diverse materials and methods, offering personalized optical solutions and additional functionalities tailored to individual needs.Research into 3D-printed contact lenses began around 2012 and has grown steadily in recent years.Data was collected from the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases on the 30 th of August 2025, then they were merged and deduplicated before being analyzed and visualized using VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel to identify research trends and evaluate publication impact.Findings show that the United States, China, the United Arab Emirates, and England dominate this area, producing 62 of 81 publications in WoS and 59 of 76 in Scopus between 2012 and 2025.These countries demonstrate strong collaborative efforts, reflecting leadership in scientific and technological research.Overall, publication and citation trends reveal significant growth, underscoring increasing global interest in this innovative field. This study provides a comprehensive bibliometric overview of the research landscape, highlighting the current impact of 3D printing in the development of wearable contact lenses.
