This chapter is a personal, playful, yet serious reflection on the meaning of the term “use of the object.” The author looks at “the object” from multiple vertices, gives examples of various types of objects, offers a clinical illustration of attachment to a lost love object, and concludes with examples of the therapist’s use of the patient as an object.
