摘要与影响
According to one of his colleagues, Valene Smith, it was because of his early and widely cited article on motivation in Annals of Tourism Research that Graham Michael Stuart Dann became known for a period as “push-pull Dann”. Graham wanted to follow in his grandfather&s;s footsteps, albeit with a greater international language base and enhanced communication via le mot juste . Graham&s;s interest in tourism research coincided with his arrival in 1975 in Barbados, a West Indian island that relied heavily on tourism but with very little research on why people visited such a tropical paradise. His period in Luton was highly productive in terms of research, with an average of seven publications per year. At the end of the twentieth century, Graham returned for a while to his academic roots, with the state-of-the-art article on the theoretical advances in the sociological treatment of tourism.
