摘要与影响
The paper draws on Freudian psychoanalysis, specifically on the notion of ‘infantile amnesia’ as the framework for analysing Khalid Hosseini’s And the Mountains Echoed. Drawing on close reading as a method of analysis the paper intertwines personal identity with the politics of loss, given the context and how individual identities are disrupted. The protagonist Pari loses her ability to recall her early years and everything else connected to her time spent in her homeland Shadbagh. Little Pari has been showered with so much love and attention by her new family. Wahdatis devote their time to her to play and learn with her. Being separated from her brother makes Pari realize that she does not want to continue to feel deeply lost and depressed. Pari creates a mental barrier. She no longer remembers her early years as a result. Sadly, Pari’s adult life is being shaped by these suppressed childhood memories, especially those of her and her brother Abdullah. Pari lost Abdullah, who was essential to her survival. As she grows older, the memories of Abdullah and her family get degraded and deeply buried in her mind. As she grew older, those memories became more brittle. And The Mountains Echoed deals with a multifaceted topic of love from every character’s point of view , unlike his earlier books. Because of their intricate relationships, these characters add felicity to the plot. And The Mountains Echoed describes the nurturing of a family, which comprises fundamental values like love, care, honor, and selflessness. All family members automatically adopted these good thoughts and deeds. And The Mountains Echoed explores these intricate ideas, bringing the narrative to life as readers unravel details as they turn its pages. The article deals with memory, loss and how she individually finds a defense mechanism to come out of her traumatic past.
