摘要与影响
This study evaluates the feasibility of partially replacing Portland cement with sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA), a renewable by-product of the sugar and ethanol industry, in the production of compressed earth blocks (CEB). Blocks stabilized with 10% cement (by mass of soil) were produced with replacement levels of 10%, 20%, and 30% of SCBA. The physical and mechanical properties were assessed through compressive strength, water absorption, and thermal conductivity tests. The results indicated that all blocks containing SCBA met the minimum requirements established by technical standards. Increasing SCBA content influenced matrix densification and water absorption behavior, as well as affecting thermal conductivity. Among the evaluated mixtures, the 30% replacement level showed satisfactory overall performance, combining adequate mechanical strength with reduced water absorption. The findings demonstrate the potential of SCBA as a supplementary material in the production of CEB, contributing to the reduction of cement consumption and the valorization of agro-industrial residues.
