摘要与影响
This article reinterprets Albert Schweitzer's ethics of reverence for life in the context of contemporary armed conflicts. Its point of departure is Schweitzer's formula, "I am life which wills to live, in the midst of life which wills to live" (Schweitzer, 1923/1987, p. 309), understood not only as a foundation of moral philosophy but also as a biophilic form of humanism. The article argues that contemporary war, especially urban warfare, technologically intensified warfare, nuclear threat, mass displacement and environmental destruction, constitutes a radical negation of reverence for life. The analysis draws on Schweitzer's ethical writings, his Nobel Peace Prize lecture, "The Problem of Peace", and current data on global armed conflicts. It does not present Schweitzer's ethics as a substitute for international humanitarian law or just war theory. Rather, it frames reverence for life as a moral corrective: every justification of violence must be confronted with the primary ethical obligation to protect, support and enhance life.
