摘要与影响
With the continuous development of China's sports industry, the number of retired athletes is increasing year by year. As a result, their post-retirement transformation has become a significant social issue, drawing widespread attention. Among various career paths, transitioning into physical education (PE) teachers presents an important opportunity for retired athletes to redevelop their careers. This transformation not only allows retired athletes to utilize their expertise and athletic experience but also helps alleviate the growing shortage of qualified physical education teachers in schools across China. Retired athletes possess unique advantages, such as their in-depth understanding of physical fitness, professional training techniques, and strong discipline, which can enhance the quality of physical education in schools. However, the transformation process is not without challenges, including the need for further education and professional development to meet the requirements of teaching in schools. This paper investigates the current situation of retired athletes transitioning into PE teachers, analyzing the various barriers they face, such as the lack of formal educational qualifications, insufficient teacher training programs, and the need for emotional and psychological adjustments. Furthermore, the paper explores the development trends of this transformation, considering government policies, sports organizations' support, and the educational system's role in facilitating such transitions. It also identifies best practices from successful cases where retired athletes have thrived in their new roles, offering insights into how the transformation process can be optimized. The research emphasizes the importance of creating targeted strategies to support retired athletes in their career re-development, such as specialized training programs, mentorship opportunities, and easier access to certification processes. By doing so, China can promote the smooth transition of retired athletes into physical education teaching roles, ultimately contributing to the improvement of school physical education quality and fostering a healthier and more active generation of students. This paper aims to provide a valuable reference for policymakers, educators, and sports organizations to further facilitate the integration of retired athletes into the educational system.
